It’s such a joy to work with couples who are so obviously in love. I might sound like a broken record when I say, once again, that anniversary sessions are some of my FAVORITES. This one was no exception. Brianna contacted me with the idea of doing a session for her and Darius’ first wedding anniversary, wanting to highlight their love, and also this incredible vintage heirloom gown that she wore during her wedding ceremony. (Are you kidding me with this dress? I basically looked like the heart eye emoji when she showed me a photo.) We met for coffee, and I instantly recognized her, realizing that I had actually assisted at her senior portrait session with Ashley Sturm Photography years back. I remembered thinking back then that she was so sweet and stunning – turns out it was definitely true! We ended up talking for over an hour, first about ideas for their session, and then just about life. (It’s just the best when clients turn into friends!)
All of that was back in January, and their anniversary wasn’t until summertime, so it made for a long wait until their session. It was kind of a tough wait, because I was so excited for it! But we ended up with the absolute perfect day.
I met Darius for the first time at the session, and he was so great to work with, too! It was so sweet to see how he loves his bride. Bri had her hair and makeup done for the session by Faith Bartruff, and Forrette Fleurs made the beautiful bouquet.
I was just so excited about this session, and the film scans turned out even better than I’d imagined! The best part though, by far, was Brianna’s response after I sent off the gallery –
“Kelsee!!! I just saw my gallery!! You have no idea, how much these pictures mean to me. They are GORGEOUS. More than I could have ever asked for!!!! Thank you for the amazing experience, for making us feel comfortable, and for capturing us SO well? YOU are AMAZING”
The highest compliment as a photographer is when my clients LOVE their photos. I was so thankful to work with these two, and just so happy to be able to give them these memories to hold on to for the rest of their lives and their marriage. Thank you, Bri + Dar for such an amazing session!
